Diving in Tahiti

The lagoon and ocean waters surrounding the island of Tahiti offer spectacular underwater attractions as well as a variety of diving sites. There are sunken shipwrecks, breathtakingly steep drop-offs covered with colored coral fans, coral gardens and much more. Of course there's an equally rich fauna.

It's also the best place to master the different levels of CMAS, PADI and SSI trainings.

Go there to meet all the turtles, giant wrasses, dolphins and (when in season) the humpback whales.

DIVING SPOTS

The Aquarium:
An ideal spot for beginners, to take their baptism dive in an aquarium surrounded by a coral ring. Butterfly fish, trigger fish, anemones.

The Wrecks:
Discover a sunken ship and a hydroplane, both together in the same spot! Trigger fish, anemones.

The Saint Etienne Drop-offs:
Excellent site for a "deep water dive". The place consists in a slope full with madrepores.

Papa Whisky:
A plateau which collapsed creating an underwater amphitheater. Incredible visibility to see from the edge of the sunken coliseum.

The Spring:
A natural water spring sunken 5 meters under the surface. It's better to go on a calm waters' day to see the spring in a more clearly way. Sharks, napoleons, turtles.

Arue Slope:
A hill covered with several corals formations and cracks. Squirrelfish, groupers.

The Abyss:
See coral roses and deep sea fish in this dive recommended for experienced divers only.

Gorgonia:
This spot owes its name to the gorgons, a type of anemone which recovers the whole roof in these underwater caves. White tip sharks.

The Fare Miti Split:
Vertical crack which "splits" the water. White tip reef sharks, humphead wrasses, deep sea fish.

Mea Spit Drop-off:
A point famous for its fauna, filled with black coral, anemones and deep sea fish.

Papara:
Sheer drop-off, home to many white tip reef sharks and other spectacular species.

Lagoon Hole:
Eagle rays, garden eels, white and silver tip sharks.

Marado:
Great underwater falls and reef gorges covered with gorgons and little caves with plenty of fish.

Gorgones:
Vertiginous falls under schools of giant wrasses, sharks and moray eels.

Tetopa Cave:
Great caverns filled with crustaceans, such as lobsters, crabs and shrimps.

The Underwater Mesa:
Very big mesa for a beginner/intermediate diver levels, teeming with turtles, but also with overwater fauna (sea gulls and other birds).
